Media Coverage: Victorian Rail Projects

The following comment was posted on the 15th of November in response to The Herald Sun’s article Scott Morrison rejects Daniel Andrews funding request for Suburban Rail Loop
“Where’s Frankston’s rail?
It’s a bit rich for Premier Dan Andrews to be asking for the Commonwealth to stump up funds for the $34.5bn Suburban Rail Loop first stage when the Frankston rail extension already has funding but has not been started.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison rejected the Victorian government’s plea for federal funds for the rail loop (HS, 15/11), but he personally backed the Frankston project in 2018 with $225m, matched by federal Labor.
The extension is an Infrastructure Australia national priority.
Frankston’s been waiting 92 years since it was first proposed, yes 92 years.
Now is the time for the Commonwealth and state to get their acts together and build it.
